Links

Here are links that will come in handy:

  • Robot Marketplace - Your source for all of the parts you will need.
  • Discount Steel - Great place for any kind of metal including aluminum.
  • McMaster-Carr - Anything else you can't get from above. They have quick shipping and have parts on stock for any situation.
  • Flo-Products - For anything with pneumatics. They are local so go and talk to Bill Morse, the president. He can hook you up with anything for free or at a discount.
  • Total Insanity - Has many pages of tips for builders of flippers and spinners. It includes the math for calculating air pressure and figuring how much inertia a spinning weapon has. Also check out the four-bar linkage program. It has a few bugs, but it really helps do some math once you figure out how it works.
  • Team Da Vinci's Tips - This site has some great tips for pneumatics, gear reductions, and electrical systems.
  • Parker - A major supplier of engineering components, we use them at work because they sell a variety of products such as pneumatics and gearboxes. Go here for an extremely high-flo pneumatic valve.
  • Castle Creations - A local company that sells small yet powerful motors and speed controllers. They should be able to help but their equipment is not "battle-hardened".
  • DC Waterjet - Out team got Titanium from Mcmaster-Carr, but you might want to get some through DC Waterjet because they can cut it for you.
  • Bane Bots - I just found this website and I love their little planetary gearboxes. They have a high enough rating for the magmotors and they can effectively slow down the rpm's with only a couple pounds of weight. After working at Eskridge (A maker of planetary gearboxes), I can tell that these are durable gearboxes unlike some others that I have seen which are a joke.
  • Jameco - Mr. Keiter's recommended site for electronics. This is where we bought our solid-state relay, a very crucial component.
  • Battle Kits - This site sells robot drive system kits. Instead of using what they give you, I would use their wheel mounts with sprockets and chain and then get rid of the frame they give you.
  • Spatha's Design - Look at the notebooks from last year because they are more up to date but when you can't, go here.
